Half-day excursion for guests, August 24th, Saturday
Ptuj has been inhabited since the late Stone Age. It has developed from a Roman military fort Petovio. The mid-12th-century castle is situated on a hill alongside the river Drava overlooking the town and is a prominent landmark.
The parish church is dedicated to Saint George. It is a three-naved Gothic building from the 13th and early 14th century, but the structure incorporates parts of a much earlier structure, dating to the mid-9th century.
After lunch, we will visit private unique geological and paleontologicaj museum Pangea in a small village on the Ptuj Plain.
